These are 4 video clips demonstrating four essential operations which can be made on the log using the LL-41 log lathe.


After the log has been fixed between front and rear stocks rough cutter can debark the log. It may remove up to 70mm per diameter. If log has irregular shape rough cutter should be used few times to remove all bark and bring log diameter to proper size. Then fine cutter should smooth surface of the log. Fine cutter can work simultaneously with rough cutter. Next operation is milling of long groove (Swedish cope). This can be done simultaneously with kerfing. Notching is a final operation.

1st video clip demonstrates loading of a log on the lathe


Sequence of operations:

1. Tail stock is being moved to fit log size;
2. Log is rolled to lathe frame and put on log lifting bars;
3. Using manual hydraulic jacks the operator lifted the log to level of stock pikes;
4. Log is being gripped by pikes between front and back stocks;
5. Lifting bars are being released and dropped to ground level to clear way for the moving carriage;

2nd video clip shows how rough cutter removes bark and sapwood layers from the log

- Rough cutter can work simultaneously with fine cutter to decrease log processing time;
- Rough cutter can remove up to 2¾ inches (70mm) per diameter
